A dental crown covers a tooth or a root canal and restore it to its normal shape and size. A crown can make your tooth stronger and improve its appearance. Sometimes a tooth that needs a crown will need a root canal. If this is the case the dentist will create a build up to hold the crown on the root. If no root canal is required a dentist will remove the majority of the top of the tooth and create a build up using the actual tooth material. Impressions are made of the tooth using a quick-set non-toxic soft rubber compound. This gives the dentist and the lab a shape and size to match to create a crown that fits your mouth perfectly.
Most crowns are still created in labs by professionals who specialize in the creation of dental crowns. However modern equipment is allowing more practices to create all ceramic crowns in their offices which offers patients the convenience of having a crown take only one visit.
Typically these all ceramic crowns are not used for molars but are excellent chooses for bicuspid and cuspid teeth. Talk to the dentists at Loza dental and find out what options are available to you .
